Hi,

I have been asked to provide an an Australian Taxation Office notice as a proof of my identity verification. I am wondering how I can obtain this document. Is it something that I can download from ATO's website? Can it be any mail that ATO sent to me?

Copying the full text of the request:

Here's what you need to do to complete your identity verification

Provide us with:

  • A certified copy of your Australian passport (current or one that expired within the last two years) or your current foreign passport with a current Australian immigration visa, and
  • A certified copy of an Australian Taxation Office notice issued within the last 12 months. The notice must be in the same name and residential address as your application.

Hi @luenhchang,

We can't confirm what documents will be accepted by other agencies.

Generally, though, you'll need something like a notice of assessment.

You can obtain this through your myGov account connected to ATO online services.

    • Select tax
    • Select lodgments
    • Select income tax
    • Select history
    • Select a notice of assessment.

    From here, you can print your notice of assessment to then have certified. :)
