Hi @Nightingale,

You can only claim work deductions for costs incurred that are directly linked to a role you are currently working in if the costs are specific to earning your income in that role.

Expenses relating to gaining a role you haven't commenced yet are not claimable, as they do not directly relate to earning your current income.

If you win the new role or position, then you would be able to claim deductions for expenses related to the new role that arise from the date you commence that position (ie, you wouldn't be able to 'back-claim' the expense for the resume service as it was incurred prior to the role commencing, thus not related to earning income in that role).

Hi @SueB25

To claim a deduction the expense needs to directly relate to your current employment activities. You can look at our webpage information on work related expenses. Under self education expenses the website advises - You can claim self-education and study expenses you incur when the course you take leads to a formal qualification.

As a resume is not a course, it would not be a deductible expense.

I hope this helps.
