My Sister died on 19th. August 2020.

Her last taxation return was for the year to 30th June 2020.

Can you tell me:

  1. Do I need to arrange a Tax Return for the period 1st July 2020 to the date of her death 19th August 2020?
  2. Her account is frozen at present so I cannot see the value of her Share Portfolio, but from memory, I believeit to be worth about $300K and had risen by 35% since purchase. If I sell these shares to distribute the assets of the estate will they be subject to taxation?
  3. If the answer to question 2 is yes. Can I distribute the shares to the eight beneficiaries without selling and what are the taxation implications for them?

Thanks for your help,

Foxie

Hi @Foxie,

This seems to be a duplicate post. We've answered you over on your other post: Deceased Estate Taxation
