Hello ATO Community,Greetings of the Day,

My Question on behalf of my friend is that his income statement which was reported by his employer through single touch pay is $36,921 and PAYG $6156 which is wrong but his actual Income is $18,460 and PAYG is $1404 according to his wages & bank statement. And also he received the notice of assessment as wellHe've requested to his employer for correction but he's not responding positively.My question is to correct this Income statement what do I need to do?

Hi @Ateeq,

Sorry to hear that the employer doesn't seem to be wanting to correct the income statement.

It sounds like your friend has already lodged the return and received a Notice of Assessment for it. So in this case, an amendment would need to be lodged by your friend with the correct figures. In order to prepare an accurate tax return and support the claims in it, your friend will need to keep thorough records. They need to be able to show how they arrived at the income and tax withheld figures. In some cases they may need to provide written evidence of how they worked out the figures if we ask.
