Hi,

I'm a sole-trader working in Australia for tax purposes and I've recently paid for and renewed my Permanent Resident Visa. Would the amount I've spent on renewing my Visa count as tax deductible expense?

Hi @Curry

The costs of the visa in not tax deductible as they must be directly related to earning assessable income.

The costs are considered private in nature and not deductible.

Check out our Interpretative Decision on the deductibility of visa expenses.
