I have had numerous issues with my previous employer with regard to unpaid superannuation, non issue of payslips, and irregular past payments of Jobkeeper. For the past 2 years I have had problems obtaining my PAYG. All these issues have been directed to the ATO via either the Ombudsman, and/or the ATO tip off, some of the issues have been resolved, most are still ongoing.

My question relates to this year's PAYG Payment Summary.

(My past employer does not use STP)

I received 8 weeks of Jobkeeper payments for this financial year...(the equivalent of 4 fortnightly payments) My PAYG shows a total income of $5250 (Bank statements show 8 payments of $654.00= $5232.00)...The amount of Tax taken should have been 8 x $96.00 amountings to $768.00.

My question is: Why is the full amount of Tax taken out not refundable?

My PAYG statement shows only $672.00.

Tax withheld from JobKeeper is normal tax and treated the same way.

Sounds like you need to enlist the ATO's help in getting your employer to report correctly.

(1) Do I fill in my tax return using the correct amount that should have been taken out ..(ie 8 x $96) $768.00

or do I enter the amount shown on the PAYG of $672.00..effectively reducing my refund by $96.00 ?

(2) Should I inform the Tax tip off of this irregularity, considering I have been in communication with the ATO previously regarding problems with this particular employer?

I previously had requested the Ombudsman follow up a missing payslip, that would help clarify this PAYG anamoly, however this approach has not been successful...(The missing payslip occurs mid way through the 8 weeks of payment which the Ombudsman did manage to obtain )
