Salary sacrifice arrangements are a good alternative to the standard payment form of salary or wages, and mean that you are only taxed on the reduced salary/ wages that you receive. Additionally, there is no restriction on the type of benefit that can be included as part of a salary sacrifice arrangement. However, it is very important that the arrangement is in place before you commence work though, as otherwise the benefits may be taxed as part of your assessable income.
