@Fluxpavillion Since your reply Vicroads receipts now mention "Incl GST" in Sub total. So I have adjusted my notes accordingly. I not mark it as GST on Expenses.
Thing is they charge GST on the TAC and you lose out on credits if you do not claim it. It is required by law to provide a Tax Invoice and required by the ATO to provide one with BAS yet the very bodies governing this are just MEH we can't be bothered giving a tax invoice and make it hard so they gain more from us not being able to claim the GST component.
VicRoads registration papers now list the GST included in the Registration charges. It only applies to the "TAC Charge".
E.g. 2023 Renewal - Fee Breakdown
Registration fee $324.70
TAC Charge * $391.00
Insurance Duty $39.10
TOTAL Due $754.80
* incl. $35.55 GST.
The 2023 onward breakdown is linked. The TAC component has gst and therefore the registration record needs to be split between gst free and gst 10%. E.g. 3 months on a regular car in zone 2 is $208 approx with $124 going to TAC that includes gst. https://www.tac.vic.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0004/758686/TAC-Premiums-2023_24.pdf@cyberkite
What about visa card fees that Vicroads add on. Do the card fees have GST?
