I am new to australia and I have few insurance policies mainly Life and Critical Illness protection which bought from my hometown. For Life Insurance, if i pass away, my wife as beneficiary will be able to get the claim. does this insurance protection claim subject to capital gain tax for my wife? For critical illness, if in case i got critical illness and got my illness claim from insurance company, does this critical illness claim subject to capital gain tax for myself even i use this fund to fix my critical illness? will the situation different if we are holding a temp. visa, or PR/Citizen status? appreciate your kind advice, kind regards,

Hi @happysummer In Australia, insurance lump sum payments for life and critical illness protection are not required to be declared as assessable income. They are not subject to capital gains tax either. This situation is the same regardless of your residency status.
