I'm a non resident for Australian tax purposes. In Australia, I pay tax only on my Australian sourced income. My income protection insurance covers my world wide income. How can I decide what portion of my income protection insurance can be claimed as a tax deduction from my Australian sourced income?

Hi @Jeni_Peiris

As a non-resident only income protection premiums you pay that cover your Australian income are deductible.

However your insurer may be able to assist based on what countries it covers or you may be able to determine a fair and reasonable principle on apportionment based on the percentage of time you reside as a non-resident in the year.
