I needed to make an amendment to my tax return and on my ato app the effective date of my refund was 15 November 2021. I haven't received my refund or any notification from ato? I was made to understand that effective date meant refund transferred.

Hi @greganyost,

When a refund lists an effective date, this date is usually when the money should go out. There could be a few reasons for why this hasn't gone through yet, however without seeing your account I won't be able to tell you for sure. If the refund effective date was for your original return, any amendments made may impact this effective date. You should also double check that you have up to date bank details listed in your myGov account. You can go to your profile to check this under the ATO linked section. It's also a good idea to check that your account is still in credit. You can do this on myGov under the account section.

If the refund hasn't issued and it's passed the listed effective date, you may need to get in contact with us. The best number to call would be our individuals area. This is listed on our contact us page under individual enquires.

Thank you Ethan. The last 2 transactions showing was an adjusted interest charge and then a new credit amount effective 15th November. When I look in individual return it still says under review.

Hi @greganyost

If your return is still processing and under review it generally means we're manually looking at it so the effective date can't be relied upon. When you lodge an amendment processing can be delayed. Hopefully you won't be waiting much longer.
