If you're receiving a dept' of veteran affairs invalidity pension, it's tax exempt and you're not required to include the amount on your return. Any paid work you receive from an employer may need to be included on your return, especially if you have tax withheld. Bear in mind, the first $18200 taxable income you receive as an Australian resident is tax free. You can use the Do I need to lodge calculator to determine your lodgement requirements.
