I'm a permanent employee. Can I ask my employer not to withhold tax from my monthly salary? By doing this, I may be able to use that extra money to offset my home loan, and then pay tax at the end of the year.

Hi @kkaushik90

There are very limited circumstances in which you can request a downwards variation to your PAYG withholding. You'll need to be able to show that having the normal withholding rate amount withheld will result in your paying more tax than you need to in the income year.

To be able to do this, you have to ask and receive permission from us. As part of this, we'll tell you the allowed reduction amount.

You can read about downwards variations on our website.
