My HELP debt is in DR does this mean I get my employer to do a withholding declaration form? Also, how do I take out the excess money as I believe my study loan has been paid off.

Hello @Anitaonline,

The best way to check your HELP debt is to look at the statement of account on ATO Online Services. If you look there and it says an amount with dr that is a debit amount. This means there is still an amount outstanding. If you are working in a salary and wages job you should tick that you have a HELP debt on your withholding declaration so the appropriate amount of tax is taken out. If you haven't ticked that box, there is a chance you wont have enough tax withheld for your tax return which may end up with you having a tax debt at the end of the year.
