Hi,

The company I work for only pays for Km's used after the first 80Km, can I claim the first 80Km through my tax? Can I claim Tolls and maintenance through the ATO?

I can travel long distances weekly getting from Job to Job - approx 1500Km per month. plus Toll road usage. The vehicle is my personal vehicle

Thanks

Hi @adamm,

The 3 golden rules for claiming motor vehicle expenses would apply:

  1. expense must be work related
  2. you weren't reimbursed for it
  3. must have a receipt or proof of purchase

If you meet the criteria you can claim for the first 80kms.

Check out the information on our web site about what car expenses you can and can't claim.
