If you lodged your return electronically, we strive to have it processed within two weeks (https://www.ato.gov.au/individuals/your-tax-return/check-the-progress-of-your-tax-return/), if it requires manual processing it may take longer. If your return has processed and you received a Notice Of Assessment, updating your bank details will cause the system to do a balance check. The best way to check if a refund has generated, is to check your statement of account on ATO Online Services. Which is best done a couple of business days after you've updated your financial details. This will usually show you if a refund event has been planned for the future.
