I am unable to store all of my tools of trade at home, am I able to hire a storage unit or procure a weather proof site box or tool trailer then deduct the costs incurred?

Hello @Eferris,

As an employee tradie there are limits as to what you can claim as alot of deductions can't be claimed if your employer already offers/supplies tools and facilities. Storage container hire wouldn't be deductible as that would be a sole trader/small business deduction not an employee deduction. I would suggest looking at our guide for tradie deductions to give you an idea of what is claimable in your situation.

@TeddyATO the challenge is I don't have the space to store my tools of trade at my primary place of residence and my employer does not have provisions to store at the workplace either. My ideal scenario would be to procure a trailer for weatherproof storage.
