My spouse and I separated earlier this year and have been living apart for 5 months. We are currently in process of settlement for selling our home and buying 2 separate ones. We are planning on completely separating our finances by 30 June 22.

My question is whether on this years (21/22) tax return I still count as having a partner for the full tax year? At what point are you considered separated? Or is it not until we are actually divorced?

Hi @NickyWA123,

You would be considered to be seperated on the date you stopped being in a relationship or stopped being a couple.
