Hi there,


At the beginning of the financial year I opted to deduct a portion of my Centrelink payment to tax (youth allowance). I have now realised that I will be below the tax threshold for this financial year.

Does the ato/Centrelink automatically refund the tax deductions that I have made or do I need to lodge this as part of my tax return?

You will need to lodge a tax return to get the refund.
