I am wanting to use the short-cut method to claim working from home costs.

I have had two jobs in this time, and worked the entire time in these jobs from home.

But I am unsure how to calculate how many hours I worked in that time.

Is there an easy way to calculate this? Or do I have to ask my previous employer for those details?

Thank you

Hi @pillowhead. FY22 was a year of changes, working from home at times and elsewhere at others. So in our household:

  • one of us, an engineer, kept a daily log of the hours worked each day (7-12 when from home, sometimes just a little in the evening after a day at an office, and sometimes none at all); and
  • the other, a teacher, recorded two four week logs (one for periods teaching online, the other for in-school teaching and holidays) and applied the figures for the appropriate proportions of the year.

But if you don't have such logs, and you only worked the hours your employer paid you for, TheGoods' idea of asking your employer might be your best (only?) way.
