I lodged my tax return on the 1st of July 2022 and for the last week it is saying balancing account .

Why would it be taking so long ? It never has in previous years.

I only had to include in it my wages and lump sum payment for super.

Could it be possible it is taking longer because I had to declare bankruptcy a few months ago?

Any help would be great as I'm really relying on my tax return atm to pay car rego and electricity bill

I just looked it up and this it what it says..

Yes, but only if you owe a debt to them or another Commonwealth agency e.g. Child Support or Family Assistance. They will use the tax refund to go towards what you owe. The ATO can withhold your tax refunds even if you list these debts in your bankruptcy. For further queries contact the Australian Taxation Office..I don't owe ATO or Centrelink anything so maybe I just need to be patient 🤔🤷

I’m pretty sure if you declare bankruptcy your tax goes towards paying any debt that you could of had. So you won’t see a return.
