Hi there,

I am currently holding 482 visa via my company and my dependents are under the same visa. I was wondering if the tuition fees for my kid and spouse can be claimed. One of my kids is attending a public school in NSW and my spouse is undertaking a PhD study in Sydney. The tuition fees for both of them have been paid through my income as I am the only breadwinner of my family. Could you please let me know if the fees will be tax deductible ?

Thanks,

Kevin

Hi @KevinKang,

You can only claim the cost of the self-eduction expenses that relate to your employment.

Unfortunately, the tuition fees you're paying for your wife and child can't be claimed.

Whilst studying, if your wife gains employment in the same field, she'll be able to claim for self-eduction expenses in her tax return.
