Myself and my partner lodged our returns within 10 minutes of one another and he got his not even a week later. Over two weeks later and I am still waiting for mine. It’s been saying “balancing account” for almost two weeks. This happens every year to me. How much longer do I need to wait, as I can’t even manage to get through to an actual person when I ring? And yes, I’ve been tracking my progress through myGov etc.

Hi @jaymeelee96,

Sorry to hear you've been waiting longer than expected, we totally understand that it can be frustrating.

Unfortunately tax returns can sometimes take longer than 2 weeks to process for a few different reasons. There's a list on our website that goes through some of the reasons why there might be a delay. Generally it just means that we need to conduct some additional cross-checks before we can finalise your return.

This article on the stages of processing also goes through some of the reasons your return might be taking longer to process.
