I'm an Australian citizen, relocating to Switzerland for work in January.

in 2022/23 financial year i will work 6 months in Australia (July-December) and 6 months in Switzerland (January-June).

I will be residing in Switzerland from January, working for a local company and paying taxes there.

Will my Swiss salary be taxed in Australia too?

Do i need to declare my Swiss income in Australia?

Hi @nick_swiss,

This will depend on your residency status. If you remain an Australian resident for tax purposes, you'll need to declare your worldwide income here. If you pay tax on the foreign income, you may be able to apply a foreign income tax offset. You can also look at the information under tax treaties on who has taxing rights over the foreign income

If you become a foreign resident for tax purposes, you'll only need to declare your Australian sourced income. Bear in mind once you change residency this may trigger a CGT event if you own overseas capital assets.
