Hi, this is my first time doing a tax return.

On MyTax, it only shows the tax withheld from my employment income but not the Jobseeker payment. Since I didn't ask Centrelink to deduct tax from the jobseeker payment, does it mean that tax is yet to be taken out and will be calculated by ATO instead once I lodge my tax return?

I'm not sure if these details are necessary but I was on jobseeker while unemployed for a year until I started working full-time. Since I started work, I was paid let's say $3500 in Jobseeker payment. My total assessable income is over $40,000.

Thanks in advance!

Hi @BobbyBob,

Welcome to our tax system!

Yes, we'll calculate the amount of tax you'll need to pay when we process your tax return. Depending on what other items are on your tax return you might have a tax debt.

Check out the information on our website where it lists taxable pensions, payments and allowances.

Happy lodging!
