Is there a statute of limitations regarding the time limit that a company can raise an invoice for works they say they have provided? This is the first invoice ever issued for works they claim are due and payable. The date on which they claim the works were completed is years ago from 2016 and the invoice is dated 2022. But if any association with this company may have been around 2018 and the works claimed provided are not valid.

But curious how long does a company have to issue a legal invoice for it to be claimed valid?

Hi @gstquery,

Receiving an invoice from an such a long time ago would usually need to be explained by the issuer. As for the limitations on how long an invoice can be valid depends on the state that you're in. You'll need to consult the limitations act for your state to find out the legal period a debt can be maintained. Most states this is 6 years but it's something you may need to investigate yourself.
