Hi!

So me and my partner are looking to move to Australia under a working holiday visa for a year

I would like to continue working for my English based company whilst there

So two questions, is this allowed when under a 417 visa and secondly, who do I pay tax to? As I’m going to continue having it paid into my English bank account and will only be for the year of the visa

Thanks in advance! :)

Hi @Babou3103,

You'll need to discuss what work you can do in Australia on a First Working Holiday Visa (subclass 417) with the Department of Home Affairs.

Your UK employer will be responsible for taxing your wage. If your residency status changes from being foreign resident for tax purposes to being a resident for tax purposes. You'll need to lodge an Australian return, including your foreign income.

You can read about working out tax residency, foreign and worldwide income here.
