Hello, good morning.

My name is Selva Perez Ramos. I am from Argentina and I am a working holiday maker (462).

It was a mistake and in my last payslips it has been discounting 30% in taxes when it should be 15% from where I understand. The company has been notified and the problem is solved now, but I would like to know if there is any chance I could get that money back from the last 3 months.

I could send to you my payslips and my visa information if required.

Hope you can help me,

Kind regards,

Selva.

@selvaperez

Yes, you can get your money back.

Any excess will get refunded after you've lodged your tax return for FY 2023, sometime after next June.

HTH and thanks for giving me a like.

Hi @selvaperez

I’m sorry to hear your employer made a mistake, great news that the issue has now been resolved and their now able to apply the correct withholding amount to your earnings.

@Dav is correct, we can only assess your total tax obligation when you lodge your income tax return at the end of the financial year (30th June) any over payment of your actual tax obligation will be refunded then.

If you leave Australia permanently and cease to receive income from Australia before the 30th June you may be able to lodge the income tax return early.
