I am interested in exploring privacy aspects of cryptocurrencies.
How does ATO treat crypto bought from or sold to decentralized peer to peer exchanges or in-person trade, aka non-KYC crypto? Will this be a legal problem for an Australian citizen? Is non-KYC crypto legal in Australia?
What happens when I want to pay CGT for selling non-KYC crypto bought from either a decentralized exchange or an in-person trade? There might not be receipts from sellers. Would ATO consider the cost base as 0 AUD if there is no proof of purchase?
Similar to above, how does ATO treat crypto acquired before KYC exchanges were established in Australia? There were no proof of purchase for those.
