My friend living in my house that I own says that I don’t need to declare rental Assistance from Centrelink as income which I’m receiving from him. Can someone please let me know if this is true or not.
Hi @mourinho21,
We have a list of government payments on our website that are taxable. If rental assistance is its own separate payment it doesn't look like it needs to be declared. However, I recommend checking with Services Australia as to how they identify these payments in case they form part of another payment you might receive that is taxable.

So I’m the landlord and he is giving me $150 a week to live with me. Do I need to declare this $150 I receive from him as income he gives me which he gets help from Centrelink which is called rental assistance.
Hi @mourinho21,
If you are not the person directly receiving the rental assistance; then I would advise you will need to declare any income you are receiving. You are essentially renting part or all of your home for example, renting out a room.
You can find more information regarding rental income you must declare.
