I applied for my tax file number on the 19th December last year and it is now 23rd January. When i try to call ATO it says they are busy and cannot answer the phone right now.

Sorry but it is now February, and I still haven't received my TFN. And I still can't call the ATO.

Sorry to hear you still haven't received your TFN. What method did you use to apply (Online or paper)? The paper form can cause a bit of a delay sometimes due to postage. Online is generally quicker, but can depend on the situation. We're experiencing a high demand at the moment and it is going to take some attempts to get through. We understand the inconvenience and we do apologise. I'd recommend trying to call at different times throughout the day if possible. Unfortunately, without seeing your account (which we can't do here), we won't be able to provide much more information on why it's taking a bit longer. Hopefully you'll be able to get through soon and get it all sorted out.
