Hello,

Hope this is a simple question.

Scenario-

Married and retired couple, AU citizen but lived in overseas until retirement (never need to file tax return until now), only earnings to declare are shares and bank interest this year, both are through joint account.

Do we just divide by 2 for the investment/interest and file a tax return for each individual?

And, is there a way to file the total as couple?

Thanks!

You'll need to file 2 x individual returns.

In Australia, we don't have "family" or "couple" tax returns.
