Hi, I am a New Zealand citizen, and got a contract job for 6 months in Brisbane, I went there and worked for 6 months, then extended for another month, so in total 7 months there, then I back to NZ.
So am I an Australian tax resident for that financial year? I back to NZ during that period for 3 times for long weekend.

If you were working in Australia for a short period, you can use our residency tool to help you with your residency status during this time. If you remained a non-resident/foreign resident for tax purposes, you'd still need to report your Australian-sourced income here. If you're a foreign resident you'd be taxed from the first dollar. If you're an Australian resident for tax purposes, you may be entitled to the first $18200 tax-free, however, you may also need to declare your worldwide income here. If you paid tax on the income overseas you can view the information on foreign income tax offset from here.
