I am employed in Australia as casual. I want to have a side hustle teaching some direct students from Korea (specifically 5 students only) online (no other companies involved). They will pay me directly from Korea to my Australian bank account.

I guess I need to apply for an ABN sole trader for this?

Will this fall under the "form of business" in the Nature of Activity?

Will your activities be carried out in Australia? - for this question, Do I need to say yes since I am going to teach them online in Australia?

Hi @sierra,

Yep, by the sounds of it this would be in the form of a business and you can apply for an ABN if eligible. Regarding the type of ABN, that'll be up to you. I've seen people previously use a sole trader ABN for this type or work, but you'll need to determine if that's the best choice for you. The business.gov site has a section on ABN types that should help out. As for the last question, you'll tick yes to that. This is due to you performing the work in Australia, even though it's online.
