Hi there,

My company reimbursed me using cents per kilometre method when travelling. At the moment I am not sure whether the travelling will exceed 5000 km. If the travel will exceed 5000 km, how do I claim the deduction if the company has reimbursed the first 5000 km using cents per kilometre method?

Car expenses for genuine business use can be claimed either by log book, or cents per km.

How the car allowance is paid does not change your eligibilty to make the claim.

If you exceed 5000 km, then you need to keep a log book (and all the other details that go with it) or limit your claim to 5000 km.
