My business has purchased a vehicle for business use from a private person. Should the person tick the box 'the supplier is not entitled to an ABN as they are not carrying on an enterprise in Australia'? If they were to tick the box 'wholly of a private or domestic nature (from the supplier's perspective)', would they have to also give me a separate written statement saying the supply is wholly or a private or domestic nature? That is what the form seems to say, or is it supposed to mean that ticking the box is providing the written statement?

Hi @MlmMlm,

With what you have described if they're an individual and sold the car privately i.e not part of a business then selecting 'wholly of a private or domestic nature sounds right.

This needs to be determined by the supplier and the form needs to be completed by them.

If you refer to supplies where no witholding applies you can request a written statement. It also says the statement by a supplier can be used instead.
