If a startup company is currently inactive, but was registered with a TFN and ABN, do you need to file a tax return? The company will hopefully be active again at some point, but has been inactive for 2 years now. Is there a way to not to tax returns until it becomes active again, for example by deregistered the ABN or TFN?

A dormant company does not need to file a tax return.
You keep the ABN and TFN.
Just lodge an RNN form ("Return Not Necessary") so that ATO doesn't send any unfriendly letters asking you to lodge.

I'd like to do this, then I was just directed to this online. I wonder if it has recently changed, and now dormant companies do need to file?
