Hi, just wonder if get a lotto ticket with 2 other people but I'm the one that buys the ticket, will the other 2 people need to pay tax on there share of the winnings when I transfer them their share because it wasn't a registered lotto syndicate?

In other words would it come under me gifting them money because I bought the ticket and they weren't registered to the lotto win?

Hi @Lukeeee,

Either way, gifting money or prizes you won in ordinary lotteries as a one off, is not looked at for tax in Australia. You can check this out under Other non-taxable amounts.

Good luck with the prize draw. :)
