Hello,

I`ve been retired & living out of Australia for a year or so and I`m now going to be staying away for a few more years yet.

I think I should now be classed as a non resident.

I own no property in Au and recently sold all my possesions which were in storage.

How do I go about changing my resident status and does a non resident with only an age pension for income need to do a tax return?

Thank you.

Hi @r12aj3

It's best if you use our do I need to lodge a tax return calculator to help you work out if you need to lodge.

If you work out you need to lodge a return then on your return you'll have to tell us if you're a foreign resident or Australian resident for tax purposes.

If you don't need to lodge at all but we're expecting a return then you'll need to complete a non-lodgment advice.
