I am on the committee of a not for profit organisations that runs a service that is GST exempt. If we have income from other sources such as hiring out facilities that we have the lease for, is that also GST exempt?
Hello @LisaPrek,
Assuming that you are registered for GST, you will need to check each source of income to see if its a GST free service. As depending on what you are providing it could be GST free or potentially a mixed service.

Thanks for your response. We are not currently registered for GST as our income is always below the cap but going forward we could potentially need to register. When calculating our income to determine whether we need to register do we consider all our income, including the GST- free income
Hi @LisaPrek,
You are correct!
When it comes to working out your GST turnover, your turnover is your total income (not your profit) minus:
- GST included in sales to your customers
- sales to associates that aren't for payment and aren't taxable
- sales not connected with an enterprise you run
- input-taxed sales you make
- sales not connected with Australia.
