I'd recommend checking out our resources about starting a business. What you have to do depends a lot on your business structure and how you'll be operating. Business.gov also has a lot of helpful information on their guide to starting a business. Online selling - hobby or business? also has some information relevant to online selling.

There is information about applying for an ABN, as well as other registrations you may need to complete (such as GST, PAYG, or FBT) on the page linked above. You may find you don't need to register for any of these other things - it completely depends on the individual business.
