Hi ATO,

I am a dual citizen (born in Australia but living permanently in the UK since 2011). When I log into my MyGov account and try to update my Profile: Contact Details, it only allows me to input an Australian address.

The system prevents me from typing in an overseas address because it forces me to choose from a drop down menu with Australian states like VIC, NSW, QLD, etc. There is absolutely no option to put in a UK address or even override the system.

What do I do about this?

Thank you.

Hi @NeedHelp2022,

I've had a look into this and appears to be a limitation in MyGov that you cannot update your address details to an overseas address. Like you said the state field is mandatory and no other option provided.

Reading on the MyGov website they will only send your updated details to service providers like us, Centrelink or Medicare that you are linked to and it's an Australian home or postal address.

I suggest if you are needing to update your address contact the relevant service provider.
