I just want to know the difference between the numbers for activity statements of 002, 003 & 004? Is there a reason why someone would be put into these different categories?

The numbers are identifiers of the account on your tax record. There are a variety of reasons why the number is different for each person. For example if a business has decided to use GST branching they may have multiple activity statement accounts each with their own number. Bankruptcy can cause someone to have a different numbered account and a variety of other reasons.
