Hi there, I don't live or work in Australia anymore, but a former employer in AU is giving small payouts, so I need to prove who i am to get it.
I need a Tax File Declaration Form, but when I try to get one from MyGov / ATO, they assume it's for a 'new employer' - it's not.

It sounds like what you need is a Withholding declaration! This is very similar to the TFN declaration, however this one is for letting your employer know about changes to your details. So you don't have to be a new employee to use it. Maybe check with the employer to see if that's what they're after.
