Hi @gianglionel,
Just to clarify for the FY2021 you worked for two separate employers? One employer reported to us via Single Touch Payroll (STP). Your income info for that year shows in your ATO Online account as the prefilled amount. The gross salary and tax withheld amounts were correct.
The second employer looks like they didn't report via STP and instead supplied you with a paper Payment summary. You then had to manually enter this in your tax return.
Unfortunately, there would be no record of employment on ATO online except the information you provided in your tax return and there be no way to fix this. If the employer had reported this information via STP there would be a record.
Hi @WendyATO,
Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, I am unsure of your answer as I am wondering why the ATO do not have the record of my payment summary as the accountant who works for the employer provided me with that paper said he would send the same paper to the ATO. More importantly, how could the ATO assess whether I made it up or provided the right amount of income earned and tax withheld without the one submitted by the employer? If they just predicate on the info provided by myself, it is such a huge loophole as people can make up any amount, right?
And is it possible to get the employer to report this amount of payment now using STP to adjust the mistake given that it is allowable to adjust your income statement within certain years?
