Two days ago an unexpected payment purportedly from ATO arrived in my bank account. I have already received my tax refund. My tax agent has no explanation. How can I find out what this is about?
Hi @CMS49,
If it's from us, your bank statement will say something like "Direct Credit ATO, ATO[15-digit number]".
I would recommend you log in to your myGov account and then go to your ATO online service.
Go to Tax > Accounts > Summary. Click on the account name to look at your statement to check which account it might've come from.
You can check if the amount received relates to an amended tax return, or if it's possibly even super related.
If you do not have a myGov account linked to the ATO you can view the link to help you further.
Let us know how you go!

Thank you. It turns out this was a payment relating to the Estate of my late husband (deceased 4 years ago) and paid into our previously shared account (not the Estate account).
