Hi @acharya1238,
If you are providing services under your ABN. You would normally invoice the business you provide services to.
If you are working for an overseas company, are you residing here in Australia or the UK? If you are working for an overseas entity, they will not have the same requirements when it comes to payroll.
The payment summary/income statement is a requirement in Australia if you are an employee. If you are working under an ABN, you would possibly be a contractor. If you are a contractor. You are required to keep records and be responsible for your own tax and super obligations.
Having an ABN allows you to provide on your invoices so that when a client is invoiced. They do not withhold 47% of the invoice for no ABN withholding. It also allows you to have other registrations and show us you are operating as a business.
Hi Danielle,
Thanks for your answer.
To answer your questions:
- I am international student, residing in Australia and working for the company registered in UK and it is a physical task going to the data center and working on routers and switches in Sydney,
- My earning will be around $60000 working 24 hours per week
Please let me know how can I stay legal and pay my tax.
- Also, can I show this as work experience to ACS (Australian computer society) for the migration skill assessment.
- Will this be acceptable by migration department in the case that i have to show my income and work experience.
Please let me know
Thanks

Hi @acharya1238,
You need to ensure you have written evidence of your income and expenses.
This can be electronic or paper that will support the claims you make on your tax return. Here is some information you can refer to about records you need to keep.
You would need to speak to ACS what they require to show this as work experience and again, you would need speak to immigration about this and whether you able to under the visa you have been issued.
