The amount reflected in MyGov is not accurate as it doesn't take into account my contributions this year. I have tried calling the ATO but I can't get through to speak with someone. Thanks!

Unfortunately, this is a common misconception.

The employer contributions on your payslips are simply extra tax withheld, they do not go directly toward your HECS debt.

To beat indexation, you would need to make a voluntary payment of the entire balance.

When you lodge your tax return, any excess tax withheld will be refunded.
