Hi,

I am a UK resident and work full-time for a UK based company. My employer has given me permission to work remotely from Australia for a period of 3 months (a few weeks will be annual leave, so it would likely be 10 weeks of work), to spend time with my family. What are the tax implications? Will I need to pay tax in Australia for the three month period?

Many thanks for your advice,

Katie

Hi @KLHar,

Sounds like you won't be considered an Australian resident for tax purposes while you're here, since you'll only be here short term. Our residency tests can help you make sure of your residency status. Since your income will be derived from the UK, you won't need to pay tax in Australia. This page about residency and source of income has some more information that can hopefully help you.
