Hello everyone. I am a software engineer who started working remotely from my home country for Australian clients. I have a number of Australian clients, and in order to undertake larger projects, I need to register for an ABN. Is it possible for me to register an ABN as a sole trader? Can I apply for it online? Usually when we request further documents, we aim to have your application processed within 20 days. This could be longer depending on international postal timeframes.
If you have the reference number from your application, you may need to discuss this further with the ABR. You can then confirm they've received your documents.

Yep you can register as a sole trader. You just need to check that you're entitled to an ABN when you complete the form. Here is the link to the Australian Business Register where you can apply online for your ABN.
@AriATO thank you for your response. I apologize for not providing sufficient context in my previous message. I applied online, I was required to send the verification documents via postal mail (I would like to inquire if there is an option to submit them online). I sent the verification documents on May 14th. Could you please let me know when I can expect an update regarding my application?
